The Energy Map

[mk_dropcaps style=”simple-style”]T[/mk_dropcaps]HE ENERGY NETWORKS that enable modern life are extensive and deeply interconnected. The map presented here — showing how Canada and the United States are linked when it comes to the distribution of oil, gas and electricity — makes that abundantly clear. Energy knows no borders when it comes to its movement between Canada and the United States.

That’s a powerful economic incentive to keep the relationship going. At the same time, the illustration of that relationship raises important questions. For example, can we achieve national goals if more effort is put into Canada’s east-west energy connections? Can we do more to bring reliable and affordable energy to remote areas to foster economic and social well-being?

There are no simple answers to such questions. But we can draw one definite conclusion from this map: In North America, energy is a continental issue. The choices and challenges we face — from energy investment to carbon management — cannot be made in isolation from our cross-border relationships.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]—Cooper Langford[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_padding_divider size=”40″][mk_button dimension=”three” size=”large” outline_skin=”dark” outline_active_color=”#fff” outline_hover_color=”#333333″ bg_color=”#13bdd2″ text_color=”light” url=”/resources/energy-exchange-magazine/issue-4/” target=”_self” align=”left” fullwidth=”false” margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”15″]Read more stories from the Summer 2015 issue of Energy Exchange magazine[/mk_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]
